  • MISS. BINTOU FOFANA...

    Originally from Bamkao Mali, Miss. Fofana is a multifaceted individual with diverse passions and interdisciplinary interests. Graduating from Allegheny College in Meadville Pennsylvania, in May 2024, she earned a B.A. in International Studies with a specialized focus on West Africa. Additionally, she pursued double minors in French and Political Science, complemented by a concentration in Law and Policy with a specialized foucs on Global Affairs. This website serves as a platform dedicated not only to showcasing Miss Fofana's researches but also to highlighting her commitment to social justice and political science. It provides insight into her personal projects and project she's apart of, reflecting her ethos that "to live and not embrace who we are is to die without living."

  • THE STRIPPING OF NONMATERIAL CULTURE AND INSTUTIONAL SUCCESS IN WEST AFRICA

    Ongoing project- This study explores the profound transformation of pre-colonial West Africa due to European influence. Particularly the transition from nonmaterial culture to material culture and its implications on pre-colonial political and economic institutions. All of which offers crucial insight into understanding the region' contemporary landscape.

    THINGS JUST GOT SPICY 🌶🔥PODCAST

    Ongoing project- The all inclusive political poetry podcast, highlighting: political, social and political issues in the United and aboard. Used in as a case study for research regarding "Podcasting, Political Engagement and Gen-Z" presented at the National Underaraduate Research Conference and Penn State Behrend Sigma X Undergraduate Research and Creative Accomplishment Conference (awarded second place in the Social Humanities Division). Season five in production!

    THE PEOPLE OF DAPAGO

    Ongoing project - Changing the lives of those in a remote rural village in Togo with limited infrastructure and minimal representation on standard maps. As Director of Fundraising and Research Miss.Fofana: coordinates fundraising campaigns, and facilitates financial support for projects focused on food security, sanitation, and community development. While also conducting research on sustainable development practices and community needs to identify long-term solutions for improving access to essential resources. The non profit is working on expanding it's presence in the United States.

    EQUIP FOR HOPE IN SOUTH SUDAN ORGANIZATION

    Ongoing project - Where compassion meets action! Transforming healthcare in South Sudan by providing vital medical supplies, supporting community health initiatives, and fostering resilience and hope. As Director of Communications Miss.Fofana: leads communication strategy aligned with organizational goals, directs creative strategy and oversees press releases, newsletters, campaigns and maintains partnerships.

  • INTERNATIONAL COALITION AGAINST MODERN SLAVERY

    Ongoing project - A grassroots network against forced labor and trafficking with members across 38 countries. As Modern Slavery Watch Lead Miss.Fofana: leads the development of the Modern Slavery Watch initiative, through content strategy, resource compilation, nd publication management. While also overseeing website logistics, structure and design for both Modern Slavery Watch.

    ANTI-GUN VIOLENCE

    Ongoing project - The fight to end gun violence in the city of Philadelphia. Awarded by the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for anti-gun violence advocation initiatives. Currently developing a research article for 'The New Global Order' international think tank regarding “The Impact of Gun Violence on Youth and Human Development in the U.S.”

  • HOW TO BE AN ACTIVIST SUMMER INSTITUTE

    Ongoing project - Designed and facilitated a comprehensive educational program, delivering bi-weekly, two-hour sessions for six weeks aimed at empowering high school students with the tools for effective activism. Students picked a community issue most prevalent to them, which was mental health awareness. Miss.Fofana provided mentorship, assisted students in raising over $500 for local mental health organizations and organized panels with mental health professionals. Program proposal won a grant at the Upper Merion Area Board of Community Assistance. Miss.Fofana is currently working on re-establishing the program for summer 2028.

    CENTER FOR POLITICAL PARTICAPTION FELLOW / VOTE EVERYWHERE AMBASSADOR / GLOBAL CITIZEN SCHOLAR

    Fall 2020 to Spring 2024 - Through the Andrew Goodman Foundation chapter and Center for Political Participation at Allegheny College, Miss.Fofana and her colleagues were working on voting rights, voter registration and education. In addition to mentoring students in the Law and Policy program, Miss.Fofana hosted and cohosted a variety of community panels/townhalls ranging from "Who Get More Media Attention and Why?" to "Education Policy: It’s Impact From High School to College." As a Global Citizen Scholar Miss.Fofana and her colleagues also fought for women's rights and empowerment from Costa Rica to Ghana.
